With our current lifestyle, dandruff unknowingly became an unwelcomed guest who just refuses to leave. But today I will be sharing some Indian home remedies for dandruff that actually will soothe your itchy scalp and give you your confidence back to wear black again.
What is Dandruff?
Dandruff is a skin disorder affecting the scalp, which occurs as a result of dead skin cells. Mainly this disorder is caused by dry skin or poor hygiene habits or sometimes it could be a sign of infection.
It is mainly whitish flour-like flakes on your hair and scalp. These flakes eventually spread if they are not treated early on. This causes itching on the scalp and eventually leads to hair fall and in some extreme cases baldness too.
Indian Home Remedies For Dandruff And Itchy Scalp
ACV
To avoid itchiness use apple cider vinegar as a last hair rinse. Mix it with water in the 1:1 ratio and use it after your shampoo. This kills fungus causing dandruff and gives instant itchiness relief. It helps in balance your scalp’s disturbed pH and remove build-up from different hair products.
Pure Coconut Oil And Camphor Massage
Take 4 tsp of pure coconut oil and add 1 camphor tablet to it.
Heat this mixture using the indirect heat method until the camphor tablet dissolves. Now massage it into dry hair concentrating well enough on your scalp and let it sit one hour before washing it off.
It acts as anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial formula. This will reduce the spread and growth of dandruff on your scalp.
One of the best remedies for dandruff if you ask me 🙂
Lemon Juice And Curd
A mixture of lemon juice and curd or unflavored yogurt in the ratio of one teaspoon of lemon juice to one bowl of curd works from the first time you use it. Keep it on for an hour then shampoo as usual.
It will prevent the formation of dandruff as lemon juice is acidic hence the environment won’t be favorable for the survival of dandruff.

Baking Soda
Rub it in wet hair concentrating on your scalp and leave it for 3 minutes and wash it off. This fights off fungus-causing bacteria. This in turn will help you control dandruff and hair loss.
Green Tea And Mint
This wonderful combination not only soothes the scalp giving it a relaxed feeling but will also work well as a home remedy for dandruff. It also helps in controlling hair fall and adding instant shine to your hair right at the comfort of your home.
Just brew green tea or chamomile tea like you normally would and add some mint leaves to it while brewing. Now strain this tea and use it as last hair rinse. This will help you get rid of that stubborn dandruff from your scalp.

Aloe Vera Gel Mixed With Tea Tree Oil
Take 1 bowl of aloe vera gel or 4 tsp to be precise and add 4 drops of tea tree oil to it. Mix well. I prefer blending it in a blender to form a smoother paste.
Apply on the wet scalp and let it dry for 30 minutes to one hour. This gel has various scalp benefits due to its natural medicinal value, when applied sparingly on the scalp and left to dry it gets rid of dandruff and soothes itching of the scalp in a short term.
