I recently colored my hair brown for my friend’s wedding and this Loreal color protection shampoo came free with the hair color box. I personally felt amazing about this offer and therefore grabbed it ASAP. Who wouldn’t like a shampoo free with hair color, I am no different.

Let me know share my views on how this color protection shampoo by Loreal Paris fared. And before you go ahead, don’t forget to check out Is Loreal shampoo good for your hair or is it bad?

Loreal Paris Color Protect Shampoo

The shampoo comes in regular Loreal Paris signature plastic bottles with flip shut caps. The bottle is opaque red in color and looks appealing. It is spill-proof and can be a good travel companion.

The shampoo, however, has a more of runny consistency but it lathers very nicely and has a wonderfully charming fragrance which however didn’t last long. It vanished more quickly than anybody lotion would vanish into your skin.

Product claims:

Loreal Color Protection Shampoo nourishes the hair and transforms it’s surface, keeping the hair protected and prolonging the color radiance. The Color Protect formula with UV filter – Light Reflecting System combines an active nourishing ingredient and filter for color treated hair.

My Experience Using The Loreal Color Protection Shampoo

The shampoo has a very nice fragrance which makes your entire hair washing experience more fun. It makes your hair smell good but sadly it doesn’t stay for long.

The shampoo contains a long list of harmful chemicals especially SLS which lathers quite well and removes oil in one go too. But still it helped in keeping my hair color intact.

Its been 3 weeks and finally now my hair color has lightened by 2 or 3 shades.

But that is the only good thing about this color protection shampoo.

It makes my hair and scalp very dry.

I literally got very itchy scalp because of it and had to incorporate acv hair rinse every time I wash my hair. It does not do anything to nourish colored hair nor does it help to keep frizziness at bay.

I personally feel if fading of hair color is your only concern then only go for this one otherwise you have too many options in the market. As for the UV protection, I would recommend you to try thr hair products with SPF.

Where To Buy Loreal Color Protection Shampoo?

I got it free along with my hair color but its easily available in local stores, as well as Amazon. I however found Loreal Ever Pure Shampoo for color treated hair much better than this color protection shampoo.

Yay or Nay?

Nope. I really don’t recommend this shampoo.

I mean apart from it protecting my hair color it reacted almost opposite of what it was supposed to do. Instead of nourishing my color treated hair it made it more dry and frizzy.

Apart from its fragrance and color protecting ability this shampoo had no good qualities. You should opt for Loreal's Ever Pure Shampoo instead. It has comparatively less chemicals and it protects hair color and nourishes your hair better.

I would only recommend if protecting your hair color is your sole purpose of buying the shampoo then go ahead. I personally won’t be picking it up again.
