For treated hair, their Kerastase range and Elvive total repair extreme renewing shampoo works great. Loreal also has blue shampoo meant exclusively for blondes.
Although, these shampoos do deliver quick results but they do contain a long-range of harmful chemicals. So please check the ingredients list thoroughly before you opt for any Loreal shampoo.
What Are The Disadvantages Of Loreal Shampoo?
Using Loreal shampoo on natural hair or by people who follow the curly girl method is not recommended. This is because most Loreal shampoo contains sulfates, added fragrance and other harsh chemicals in them which may hamper your natural hair journey.
However, Loreal also offers a good amount of shampoos that are SLS-free. But still Loreal isn’t a mild shampoo. It still has a lot of harmful ingredients in its shampoo and other hair products that are considered not so good for your hair’s overall health.
Loreal isn’t a recommended brand for people with natural hair.
A lot of consumers have also complained in online forums that Loreal’s hair color left their scalp itchy, gave them severe hair fall, and even made their eyes watery. So I would say, do a patch test beforehand to prevent this issue. But thought it was a valid point that I should mention.
Also, make sure you do not use hair color if you have used henna in the last two months. You can also read whether henna is good for your hair or not and decide which method works best to color your hair.
Loreal has also been accused by The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) which issued a warning that Loreal was advertising certain products in a way that misleads the consumers.
Is Loreal Cruelty-Free?
Although on its official site, Loreal claims to be cruelty-free and claims that it doesn’t test products on animals. But again, L’Oreal sells its products in stores in China under conditions where animal testing is still legally required. Plus, it isn’t certified that Loreal is a cruelty-free brand.
You can check out Peta’s official website to find more details as to whether Loreal still tests its products on animals.
Is Loreal Vegan?
There are some products that Loreal offers that are vegan but not all products are vegan. Some of them have glycerin, honey and other ingredients which make Loreal not a vegan brand.
Conclusion: Is Loreal Shampoo Good For Hair? Or Is It Bad?
Loreal shampoo is good for hair or is it bad, it totally depends on your own judgment.
However, summing up I would say, it does have a good range of products that suits and targets different hair problems. But it does contain a lot of harsh chemicals and when I mean a lot of chemicals I mean A LOT.
You can give them a try but make sure you use a good clarifying shampoo afterward or do a hair detox.
Plus, it claims to be cruelty-free but continues selling its products in China where animal testing is still a mandatory law, so you can decide whether or not you are comfortable using their products. Also if you are vegan, you might need to skip Loreal products.
I shared all the facts that crossed my mind while discussing: is Loreal shampoo good for hair. Feel free to share your inputs if you think I might have missed some points.
Have a lovely day.
