I have with me a clarifying shampoo by Neutrogena. Its called Neutrogena Anti Residue Shampoo. I have been using it for more than 5 months now and I will be sharing my experience with this baby.
What Is A Clarifying Shampoo?
If you are unsure of what a clarifying shampoo is let me explain it to you in brief. So you use so many products on your hair and scalp like the hair oils, shampoos, conditioners, serums, leave-ins, hair sprays, hair colors, and the list goes on and on.
So each product that you use, leaves a little bit of product on your scalp no matter how well you rinse it.
Over time these products form a layer of build-up on your hair and scalp, leaving the pored clogged and your hair health compromised. That’s when clarifying shampoos come in the picture. They deep clean your hair and scalp to remove the buildup so that your hair and scalp and breath again.
It is actually one such amazing clarifying shampoo to remove color in case if you aren’t completely happy with your current hair color.
Neutrogena Anti Residue Shampoo Review
This shampoo comes in very normal packaging which honestly after the amount I spent on it, I expect the packaging to be more chic and stylish. Although I am glad that it is travel-friendly. The shampoo is normal consistency and lathers quite well. It has a medicated smell which bugs a little.
My Experience Using Neutrogena Anti Residue Shampoo
I picked this baby up after I finally emptied my previous Halo egg clarifying shampoo. You all know how much I love that shampoo so picking up another shampoo and dreaming it being as good was something I seriously doubted.
But this baby proved me wrong.
This Neutrogena anti residue shampoo lathered well and removed dirt and greasiness from my scalp. It even removed all the flakes without leaving my hair drier, unlike other clarifying shampoos.
It, however, being a clarifying shampoo will lighten or entirely remove your hair color so take a not of that. Plus if you are a member of the oily hair family then this shampoo will keep the oil at bay very effectively.
Overall, I love using this shampoo twice a month to remove all the buildup of the products that I have used over these two weeks so I don’t damage my hair and leave it healthy.

Is Neutrogena Anti Residue Shampoo Discontinued? Why?
Neutrogena anti residue shampoo has been discontinued.
Neutrogena didn’t give any clarifications on why Neutrogena anti residue shampoo discontinued without any notice or offering any replacement. I am not quite sure about the reason behind it but I believe it contained dmdm hydatoin which could be the main reason behind it being discontinued.
You might already know that how dues to dmdm hydatoin was one of the ingredients in Tresemme shampoo which lead to lawsuit. You can find out more details about the same here. But the brand has not shared any details as to why Neutrogena anti residue shampoo has been discontinued. They just added it to their discontinued products list page.

Bottom line
It was one of the best clarifying shampoos that I tried till date. But unfortunately Neutrogena anti residue shampoo has been discontinued and we don’t know whether it will be back or whether they will offer us a better product replacement.
