Are there any supplements to stop facial hair growth?
Is there a way to stop facial hair growth in females naturally?
These questions recently started making their way into my inbox.
A lot of readers wanted to know how to deal with hirsutism in a natural way.
I thought let’s discuss this today.
I can relate to the unwanted facial hair problem because I have PCOS. My hormonal imbalance has made me deal with this for the past couple of years.
Today, I will be sharing what remedies I tried and what supplements you can take to stop facial hair growth.

Hirsutism in Women
If you feel like a single thick hair strand popping through your chin or upper lip area or near your nipples amounts to you being affected by hirsutism, then don’t be alarmed. Let me assure you, you are absolutely okay.
As per Mayo Clinic, hirsutism is when you start noticing excessive yet thick and dark hair growth like men be it face, chest, or your back.
In 2019, researchers discovered that PCOS and idiopathic hyperandrogenism account for more than 80% of women with hirsutism. Other causes for excessive hair growth like males included medications, hereditary, Cushing’s syndrome, hormonal imbalance, or androgen-secreting tumors.
Supplements To Stop Facial Hair Growth In Females Naturally
When I started noticing thicker hair growth on my face, I immediately consulted my Gynaecologist. She made me a list of basic exercises so I would lose weight, asked me to practice meditation for peace, and shared a list of supplements to stop facial hair growth.
Vitamins For Hirsutism
There are a lot of supplements to stop facial hair growth or you can consume these vitamins via natural food.
Vitamin E
You might have heard me recommend Vitamin E supplements in the past for beautiful and healthier skin. This supplement not only helps with better hair and skin but also helps minimize testosterone levels in the body.
If supplements scare you, try incorporating Spinach, broccoli, almonds, peanuts, seeds of pumpkin or sunflower, or avocado in your daily diet.
Vitamin B6
This vitamin does a fine job in minimizing the production of prolactin hormone in our body. Prolactin is a hormone that triggers the release of testosterone in our bodies. This, in turn, promotes hair growth especially on the face, stomach, nipples, and other such unwanted places.
If supplements aren’t your thing, try to include Vitamin B6-rich foods like fish, banana, walnuts, peanuts, whole grains, avocados, and spinach.
Magnesium, zinc, calcium, and Vitamin D
In a study conducted at Biological Trace Element Researchin March 2018, it was found that after 12 weeks, women who took a combination of magnesium, zinc, calcium, and vitamin D had significant reductions on facial hair growth as well as the overall effect of hirsutism.
So if you aren’t comfortable taking supplements for such long durations, then you can find
- magnesium in whole grains, nuts, pumpkin, and sunflower seeds or soybean
- zinc in dark chocolate, pumpkin seeds, or peanuts.
Vitamin A
This vitamin helps to balance the testosterone levels in the female body which in turn hampers facial growth. You can easily find Vitamin A in carrots, sweet potato, green leafy veggies, milk, pumpkin, or fish.
Apart from these make sure to include lots of legumes and leafy veggies in your daily diet.
