Is AmLactin cruelty-free? Is it vegan? Does AmLactin test its products on animals?
I have been getting a lot of requests to know is AmLactin cruelty-free?
After long research on our good friend Google and visiting their official website, I didn’t receive any clear answer. So I thought of reaching out to the brand directly on Instagram.
Here is what the brand Amlactin had to say on its cruelty-free and vegan status:
The brand claims that Amlactin is cruelty-free and all of its products are formulated with vegan lactic acid. When I asked whether they are certified by PETA or any other organization? The brand sadly didn’t reply back.
Again after digging the internet, I discovered that they don’t have any certification to prove that AmLactin is cruelty-free. If you are someone who only believes that a brand is truly cruelty-free if it has a PETA or leaping bunny certificate then sadly, Amlactin lacks that.
About The Brand: AmLactin
Amlactin is a popular skincare brand that is recommended by dermatologists. The USP of this brand is the use of lactic acid derived from dairy and fruits.
What is Lactic Acid?
Lactic acid is a type of alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that exfoliates and removes a layer of dead skin cells and works as a humectant to moisturize your skin. It’s a gentle AHA used in many skincare products. You can read more about AHA’s here.
Lactic acid is the key ingredient in AmLactin products.
However, if you use any AHA in your skincare routine, it makes your skin sensitive to UV rays. So make sure to include good sunscreen in your routine.
Amlactin claims:
Lactic Acid, the key ingredient in AmLactin, has been studied in more than 50 clinical trials. The most significant improvements were achieved when the Lactic Acid concentration was greater than 10%, demonstrating that concentration matters. All AmLactin products contain 12 – 15% Lactic Acid.
Is AmLactin Cruelty-Free?
As I shared above that the Amlactin claims to be cruelty-free but isn’t certified by any organizations.
However, I have seen brands like Dove that have been certified cruelty-free but they still continue to sell in China where animal testing is still a mandatory law.
I still don’t have a clear-cut answer on whether amlactin is cruelty-free or not? but I definitely hope that they are.

Is AmLactin Vegan?
Again when I reached out to the brand, they said AmLactin is vegan and contains vegan lactic acid. But when I searched on their official website, I found this:
If they are deriving lactic acid from dairy, how can they be vegan? Or am I missing something here?
AmLactin products contain naturally derived ingredients, sure. But vegan? I don’t think so.
Does AmLactin Sell Products In Mainland China or Brazil?
Upon my research AmLactin currently only sells in the USA.

AmLactin Rapid Relief Restoring Cream Review
This AmLactin cream contains mostly the same set of ingredients as the AmLactin rapid relief restoring lotion. But what sets them apart is their texture. One is available in lotion form while the other is a creamy formulation.
The Amlactin cream comes in a jar, is easy to apply, and feels lightweight on the skin. It is a deep moisturizing cream that is ideal for people with dry skin, rough skin, bumpy skin, or people dealing with keratosis pilaris. It gently exfoliates the skin and the ceramides work to provide an intense boost of nourishment to your skin.

Amlactin Daily Moisturizing Lotion Review
Amlactin daily moisturizing lotion is a good basic moisturizer that keeps your skin hydrated throughout the day. It contains a combination of lactic acid and ammonium hydroxide. It also includes glycerin which helps to hydrate your skin better.
You might experience a little stinging while you use it. The lotion gets absorbed well into your skin without leaving your skin greasy or sticky. However, it contains dimethicone which is a type of silicone. So take it into account while picking it up from the shelves.

Is Amlactin Good For You?
Amlactin contains naturally derived lactic acid which does work well on gently exfoliating your skin. It also contains some absolutely wonderful ingredients like ceramides, glycerin, and petrolatum which help your skin get that instant boost of hydration that it’s lacking on its own.
Amlactin also works well for people dealing with keratosis pilaris and is prescribed by dermatologists.
Thus, it is safe to assume that Amlactin is good for you.
Is Amlactin Bad For You?
Some Amalctin products contain silicone and parabens. There is still a debate on whether or not these are safe to use. But I figured it was worth mentioning.
Amlactin also contains lactic acid derived from dairy, so if you are allergic to dairy or its byproducts, you should skip it. And for the same reason, I believe it is not ideal for you if you are vegan.
Is AmLactin Cruelty-free Or Not?
I still am not 100% sure about its cruelty-free status. But upon reaching out that brand confirmed that Amlactin is cruelty-free.
