Is Alberto Balsam cruelty-free? Does Alberto Balsam still test its products on animals?

If you are wondering about Alberto Balsam’s cruelty-free status, then you are at the right place. Last week we discussed whether AmLactin is cruelty-free and today we will be discussing the animal testing policies of Alberto Balsam.

To answer your question directly, no, Alberto Balsam is not cruelty-free.

Let me clarify in detail.

About The Brand: Alberto Balsam

Alberto Balsam was started in 1950 and was originally called Alberto Culver. It is currently sold in more than 65 countries worldwide and is owned by Unilever UK. You can read more about them here.

While researching about them, I couldn’t find more details and unfortunately, Alberto Balsam doesn’t have a Wikipedia page at the time of my writing this article. Plus, their about page and FAQs page is limited too. But I will try my best to answer as many queries as you guys have related to Alberto Balsam.

Is Alberto Balsam Cruelty-free?

While searching about their cruelty-free status, I didn’t find any direct answer or proof of whether Alberto Balsam is a cruelty-free brand or not. So, I reached out directly to the brand via their official Instagram page and asked whether Alberto Balsam is cruelty-free? and here is what the brand replied:

is alberto balsam cruelty-free and vegan

But

is alberto balsam cruelty-free and vegan

Here is the link that they shared with me.

In conclusion, they may test on animals when required by law.

Also, Alberto Balsam is owned by Unilever UK which again isn’t cruelty-free or vegan. They do sell their products in China where animal testing is unfortunately still a mandatory law.

That is why Alberto Balsam is not cruelty-free.

They are not certified by PETA or Leaping Bunny either to prove that Alberto Balsam is cruelty-free.

Is Alberto Balsam Vegan?

I asked this question directly to the brand but unfortunately, they haven’t replied. But if I ever hear back from them again, I will be sure to update it here.

But in the meantime, I would say that certain Alberto Balsam products do contain glycerin, lactic acid, and other ingredients which can be derived either naturally or as animal by-products.

So I cannot conclusively say that Alberto Balsam is vegan. Alberto hair products might contain certain products in their haircare range that aren’t completely vegan.

Alberto Balsam Is Bad For Your Hair Because:

It contains a lot of harmful ingredients in its hair products like SLS, SLES alcohol, and others. They may also contain animal-derived ingredients or animal-derived by-products, that is why If you are vegan, then I would recommend you to look elsewhere.

Also, Alberto Balsam isn’t truly cruelty-free as of today. They are marching in the right direction but at the moment they aren’t there yet.

Also if you follow the CG method they have very limited products that are CG friendly.
