Is Kerastase shampoo good for your hair or is it toxic and bad for your hair? Does Kerastase shampoo cause hair loss?

Kerastase shampoo is good for your hair because it is a luxury hair care line that is free of harsh chemicals like SLS, parabens, and mineral oils and it is formulated with high-quality ingredients like manuka honey, ginger root extracts, coconut oil, glycerin, salicylic acid that help solve your hair problems at its root cause.

But that does not mean Kerastase shampoo is all good and not bad for your hair. Kerastase shampoo is not cruelty-free or a vegan hair care brand. It also is a bit more on the expensive side compared to other good shampoos on the market.

Kerastase Shampoo Is Bad For Your Hair Because

  • Kerastase shampoo is not cruelty-free. If you prefer using cruelty-free shampoo, then you might want to look elsewhere.
  • It is not a vegan hair care brand as it contains extracts of glycerin, honey, and other animal-derived ingredients in its formulations. So if you are vegan or prefer using vegan shampoo, then you need to skip this brand.
  • The price point is compared on the higher side while taking into account other good shampoos on the market.
  • Some products do contain added fragrance which might make your hair smell good but it might also disrupt your scalp’s natural pH level, especially for those with sensitive scalp.

Is Kerastase Cruelty-free?

No Kerastase is not cruelty-free. They either themselves or via a third party tests their products on animals if and when required by law. Loeral is the parent company of Kerastase and Loreal is not cruelty-free either. You can read more about their stand here.

Here is what Kerastase say

We are happy to confirm that the L’Oréal group of companies, which includes Lancôme, Redken, Garnier, Ralph Lauren, Giorgio Armani, Biotherm, Kérastase, and Vichy, as well as L’Oréal, has carried out no animal testing since 1989 on the entire range of its products.

In fact, Kerastase falls in PETA’s brands that do test on animals list.

Is Kerastase Vegan?

No, Kerastase is not a vegan brand nor does it claim to be one. Some of its hair products contain animal-derived ingredients like glycerine for hair, honey, and others. However, they do offer some vegan hair products. You just need to look carefully at the label.

Over To You: Is Kerastase Shampoo Good Or Bad?

Let’s recap:

Kerastase is a good shampoo that caters to most hair types and problems find their ideal hair product that is free of harsh chemicals and is formulated with high-quality ingredients. It is safe for all hair types including color-treated and chemically treated hair.

But it is neither a truly cruelty-free nor a vegan brand and it is expensive. It also is not the ideal choice for people with sensitive scalps as the added France might disrupt your scalp’s natural pH and cause irritation.
