Is Kirkland shampoo good or bad for your hair? As this shampoo is gaining a lot of popularity for its salon-level formulations at affordable prices, its demand is increasing day by day.
Kirkland shampoo is good for your hair because it is suitable for most hair types including color-treated and chemically-treated hair. It is a vegan shampoo made out of organic ingredients and is free of harsh chemicals like parabens, SLS, and gluten.
However, Kirkland is bad for your hair especially for people with the sensitive scalp as it contains added fragrance that might irritate your scalp and leave you with an itchy scalp.
Let me elaborate on it in more detail as we discussed Kerastase shampoo, Redken shampoo, Head and Shoulders shampoo, and others in the past. I will be sharing all the pros, cons, and everything in between so you can make an informed decision on whether Kirkland shampoo is good or bad for your hair.

Kirkland Shampoo Is Bad For Your Hair Because
- It contains added fragrance that might irritate your scalp and disrupt its natural pH level especially if you have a sensitive scalp I would recommend you patch test first.
- The added fragrance is too strong to make your hair smell good. On the contrary, some consumers even complained of headaches due to the fragrance being too strong.
- Kirkland is not clear whether it tests its ingredients or products on animals or not or whether they are open to animal testing when required by law. I personally don’t like it when brands are not clear in their statements. I prefer taking the information with a grain of salt.
- Kirkland shampoo is not the best shampoo for oily hair or for people whose hair gets greasy in a day.
- Packaging is not travel-friendly.
Is Kirkland Cruelty-free?
Kirkland is not truly cruelty-free as Costco now sells its products in Mainland China where animal testing is still conducted. And we don’t have any clear information on whether Kirkland shampoo is being sold or tested on animals in China.
Kirkland Signature is not owned by any parent company nor does it hold any particular certification that claims that Kirkland is cruelty-free. However, it is also not listed in PETA’s do test on animals list either.
So, it is not absolutely certain whether Kirkland shampoo is cruelty-free or not.
Is Kirkland Vegan?
Yes, Kirkland is a vegan shampoo made with 100% pure organic extracts. If you are someone who prefers using a vegan shampoo then you can absolutely consider Kirkland Signature shampoo. As it does not contain any animal-derived ingredients in its formulation.
To know for sure whether a shampoo is vegan or not, always look at its ingredients list and avoid these ingredients.
Over To You: Is Kirkland Shampoo Good Or Bad?
Kirkland shampoo is good for your hair because of its unique formulation and how wonderfully it caters to dry, curly, frizzy, color-treated, and chemically-treated hair. However, it is not an ideal choice for people with oily hair or combination hair, or sensitive scalp.
It also has not clearly taken a stand on its animal testing policies which makes me take the information I have handy with a grain of salt.
