How To Do Hair Spa At Home For Hair Fall Control

For any hair spa done at home, there is a way you can achieve the impossible if you follow the method step by step. Since there is no rule of right or wrong here, do it at your ease and feel free to skip a step if you feel so.

This is the way I do hair spa for hair fall at home.

Step 1: Prepare

Just as every task needs preparation, so does the head. Prep up your scalp with a thorough oil massage. Olive oil is the best for the same, but other oils help too. You can try oils that are meant for your hair type for best results or try this homemade hair regrowth oil. This increases blood circulation and makes oil reach in the roots too.

This is an important step to make sure you take your time and do it the right way.

Step 2: Relax

Remember how they do it in the salon and follow up the oiling with some steam. That’s what we are gonna do next. The best way is to use the thermal steam cap as it is more effective but you can also use a hot water towel to cover-up. Ensure that the towel is properly squeezed before wrapped up on your head, to prevent dripping all over your face and garments. This distresses the head muscles and also works in deep nourishment by helping the roots get soaked in oil.

Step 3: Wash up

It’s time to wash off the oil in the hair with water but you can use a mild shampoo(preferably one without SLS) if you desire. Just finish off with water, so that it’s ready for the next step of nourishment.

Step 4: Condition it

Conditioner plays an important role at this stage since it removes all the excess oil but retains the amount needed. One can either use their regular conditioner or use a homemade one just make sure the one you are using is silicone-free.

Step 5: Masking it

Cover the scalp with a hair mask of your choice. I have mentioned some DIY masks that work well for hair fall, depending on the availability of substances in your kitchen, take your pick.

1. Coconut Hair Mask

Put together a mix of coconut milk and milk powder, along with lemon juice and rosemary essential oil. In case you wish to use any other essential oil you fancy, feel free to do so. Take 2 tablespoons of coconut milk, half teaspoon of lemon juice, 2 drops of essential oil and 1 tablespoon of milk powder. Mix until you get a thick pack like consistency. Apply it on your scalp as a mask, and cover it with a shower cap for a minimum of 30 minutes.

Follow it up with a mild shampoo. Avoid using a blow dry, as you don’t want your rejuvenated hair follicles to be exposed to heat treatment after a hair spa. A very soothing mask, that prevents hair fall. Use it twice in a week, and observe the thinning of your hair reduce.

2.Strawberry Hair Mask

Mix together a cup of chopped strawberries, an egg yolk and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Blend the mixture to receive a thick paste. Cover your head with a hot water towel, to allow the steam to open up the pores in the scalp. Remove the towel in 10-15 minutes, and apply the strawberry mask all over the scalp. Leave the mask on for another 15 minutes and follow up with shampoo. This mask promotes hair growth and the ellagic acid present in strawberries prevent hair fall.

3.Avocados Hair Mask

Mash 1 ripe avocado and add 1 tablespoon of honey to it. Apply this mix as a mask, running your fingers from the roots to the tip. Put a hot water towel around your hair and cover it for 10 minutes. Remove the towel, but keep the mask on for another 20 minutes for hair to get completely nourished. Follow up with a regular shampoo regime. This strengthens hair follicles and hence prevents hair fall.

4. Pumpkin Hair Mask

A mixture of pumpkin made into a puree (approximately 225 grams of it) and 2 tablespoons of honey are enough to save the day. Mask this mix onto your hair and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse it off with water or shampoo if required. This leaves hair looking healthy, shiny and leaves no loose hair strands.
